BlackBerry maker scores patent win

In a move that will have the airline-magazine-reading-don’t-you-know-who-I-am set breathing a collective sigh of relief, RIM has secured a final rejection of a patent held by NTP. This will put CEO’s and their brethern at ease for the time being.

It is the first final rejection to be issued in connection with the BlackBerry patent dispute. The Patent Office is expected to eventually issue final rejections on the remaining patents involved in the suit, which could deny the validity of the patents and discredit NTP’s claims.

NTP still can appeal but, at this point it does not look like they have much of a chance. I guess they should have taken the settlement offer. Sucks to be them. :D
