Auditor loses McAfee employee data

An auditor that was brought in to work at McAfee has lost a CD with information on thousands on employees. The data on the disk covered employees in Canada and the US hired before spring 2005. This is not good for Deloitte & Touche. Finally McAfee has cleared the SEC hurdles and now this. With this lost CD there is a real chance for identity theft.

McAfee has arranged for past and present U.S. employees to receive free services for up to two years from credit reporting agency Equifax. Similar arrangements are being made with a credit monitoring provider for Canadian employees, MacDermott said.

On another note, I hear that there is an auditor looking for a job tonight.
