RIM Settles Patent War

The little company that could from Waterloo Ontario, Research In Motion Ltd., has settled with patent holding company NTP to the tune of $612.5 million US. I may be nuts but, I find it flawed that a company can simply exist by litigating simply because they hold a patent. I feel that if a company has a patent is one thing. If they choose to do nothing with it they should forfeit the right to said patent after an amount of time. The patent process, in the US especially is f*cked. Something has to change. Much like the Toronto Maple Leafs…something HAS to change.
