There is a great piece over on Bruce Schneier’s blog from a Sun Times article. The article deals with a response to a business contract that involved the invocation of the Patriot Act of all things. The piece of legislation leaves a great deal of wiggle room for the government and now corporations are leveraging it to gather more information than they are really entitled to have. In the piece the narrator made mention that his company has a policy of reporting “erroneous invocations” of the act. I think this is an excellent idea and will be implementing that at my own company.
