Online journalists don’t count says Apple

Apple has managed to ruffle the feathers of some of it’s staunchest supporters. In testimony the company said that it does not believe that online journos or bloggers have the same rights as their counterparts in the print and television media. This all stems from Apple’s attempt to flush out the mole that was leaking trade secrets to Mac spoiler site “Think Secret“.

“The California courts have a long history of supporting and protecting freedom of the press,” said EFF staff attorney Kurt Opsahl.”We are looking forward to the opportunity to ask the Court of Appeal to correct a ruling that endangers all journalists.”

In an environment where governments use fear as a tactic to manage the people it’s not much of a stretch that companies will afford people the same indignities.
