Well this was a major surprise. Porter Goss called it a career suddenly on Friday. The Bush White House moved quickly to remove Goss in another of the attempts to save face with the American people. No official reason for the departure was forthcoming from Goss or Bush. ”As a result, this country will be more secure,” Bush said. ”We’ve got to win the war on terror, and the Central Intelligence Agency is a vital part of the war. So I thank you for your service.” blah blah blah.
