What Should Vets Do Now? A Checklist

Time and again we see articles about identity theft. Most recently, one about the personal information for 26 million veterans that was stolen. There is one constant, besides the theft, that needs to be addressed. Just what the heck are people supposed to do if they know that their data has potentially been compromised. Well, MSNBC has a follow-up article to help people with exactly that. They have compiled a checklist.

  1. Institue a Fraud alert on your credit.
  2. Consider a credit freeze.
  3. Check your monthly statements.
  4. Regularly check your credit report.
  5. Don’t fall for unnecessary services like ID theft insurance or credit restoration.
