Hacker Says He’s Cracked iTunes, iPod

(insert deity) bless him, Jon Lech Johansen aka DVD Jon has done it again. It turns out that he has managed to unlock the restrictions on Apple’s iPod an iTunes products. And, I love this part, he plans to license his code out. Jon, you have a brass set.

Today, songs purchased from Apple’s online iTunes Music Store can’t be played on portable devices made by other companies. Songs purchased from many other online music stores also won’t work on iPods because they similarly use a form of copy-protection that Apple doesn’t support.

Apparently, Jon already has a client lined up. Now this will be a VERY interesting story to watch develop.
