Yesterday, I had the good fortune to attend a seminar that was presented by Jon Toigo. Now, admittedly I’m usually less than impressed with speakers at free/vendor events but, I was very impressed with the frank and, at times, pointed discussion that Toigo gave at the Westin Hotel in downtown Toronto.
Planning for an unthinkable disaster is never a pleasant task — but one that is a very necessary in today’s business environment and geopolitical landscape. Now more than ever, businesses are relying on mission-critical systems to be up and running at all times. New approaches to DR can make a huge difference in recovering data more efficiently and in a useable form. Uncovering these approaches is quite possibly the leading expert in DR, Jon William Toigo.
I have not spent an overwhelming amount of time in the DR space (by choice anyway) and I find myself getting into this more and more.
The presentation was split into three hours of Jon interlaced with vendor (snoozefest) mini presentations. I was immediately interested in Toigo’s presentation when started bashing the vendors with them in the room. Much to my enjoyment here was a speaker that wasn’t afraid to speak the truth (albeit his own). Here is the seminar breakdown.
Hour one: “Hashing Out The DR Problem” (.pdf)
Hour two: “Attacking the Problem” (.pdf)
Hour three: “Rapid Recovery and Testing Techniques” (.pdf)
It was really refreshing to hear a speaker that was honest and forthright. Thanks Jon!
