Kaspersky Predicts Vista Security Holes

The predictions are starting to roll in for 2007. And Kaspersky is in the mix.

Although at the moment Vista appears to be more secure than previous Windows operating systems, Kaspersky researchers warned last week that as Vista becomes more popular, it will increasingly become a target for hackers. “We’re not asking whether vulnerabilities will be found, but when,” said Alexander Gostev, principal antivirus researcher for Kaspersky.

This is pretty much a given. While Vista is all new and shiny and it will be secure for the short term, it will have its problems. We have seen reviews of the kernel insecurity security and we know that it isn’t perfect. It is far too easy to throw stones at Vista and I would give them the benefit of the doubt just wait and see until the first vulnerabilities start appearing. I have been running Vista in a virtual machine on my MacBook for the last couple days and so far so good. Admittedly, I feel dirty.
