Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in SSL-Explorer, which can be exploited by malicious users to bypass certain security restrictions and by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and HTTP header injection attacks.1) Input passed to the “forwardTo” parameter in redirect.do is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user’s browser session in context of an affected site.
The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 0.2.13.
2) Input passed to the “path” parameter in fileSystem.do is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to access arbitrary files on the file system via directory traversal attacks.
The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 0.2.14.
3) Input passed to the “locale” parameter in selectLanguage.do is not properly sanitised before being used in the HTTP response. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTTP headers and HTTP body data in a request.
Solution:
Update to version 0.2.14, which fixes vulnerability #1 and #2. Vulnerability #3 will reportedly be fixed in version 0.2.15.Do not follow links from untrusted sources.
