John Leyden has an interesting piece that just adds to my ongoing Bitlocker bitch session. At the Infosec conference in London UK Bruce Schneier pointed out an aspect of the new Microsoft crypto that I had not considered. This will kill the dual-boot system. “Schneier said Vista will bring forward security improvements, but cautioned that technical advances are less important than improvements in how technology is presented to users.” Vista will most likely cause itself premature death by a thousand warning messages.

“The fundamental security problems have been solved and now it’s all about making the technology work. Installation, implementation, and update are key. A lot of work needs to be done on the user interface,” [Schneier] said.
