More malicious code has been discovered in the Android Market.

From ReadWriteWeb:

Between 30,000 and 120,000 users of Android devices are believed to have been affected by new mobile malware which has its roots in the earlier scourge known as Droid Dream. Like its predecessor, this variant, called Droid Dream Light, appears to have been created by the same developers whose malware had infected over 50 applications back in March. According to Lookout Security, the new malware was found in over 25 mobile applications, all of which Google has since removed from the Android Market.

Bit of a wide margin there consider how many users may be affected. Not entirely why there is such a large delta between the two numbers. While I’m not one to jump up and down about one mobile platform or another I do see a necessity for quality control on the apps that are being made available in the Android Market. As sure as I’m going to get branded as a fanboi I have to say that there is some sanity to the approach exercised by Apple with their AppStore. (/me ducks for cover)

Enterprises have been slow to adopt Android based devices for reasons just like this. If there can be better controls made available I think there would be a line up around the block for users to switch from Blackberry devices.

Huh, would you look at that. I started jumping up and down.
