Spammers, the scum that scum scrapes off scum’s shoe, are adopting new tactics. In an effort to make more money botnet operators are switching to a low and slow method. By doing this they hope to avoid detection by the basement dwelling albino set of the RBL operators. You might surmise that this will lead to a lower rate of spam dropping into your inbox. No dice, here’s an example of why.

Users of the compromised machines may not notice the spam being sent out as a result. Be diligent in patching your systems and ensure that your antivirus product of choice is running/uptodate.
